Senior Advice {27 helpful hints}

To the cute sophomores who will soon be walking down the halls, and the juniors who think they have it all figured out, here are a few handy dandy little things I've learned- 1. Be kind - be kind to your friends, family, teachers, the people who only talk to you sometimes, strangers, and everyone you come across. I promise it will make the biggest difference in your life 2. Smile - smile through the good days, the bad days, the silly days, and all the days in between. Everyone needs a smile, and smiles are contagious :) 3. If you don't know someone who is sitting at your lunch table, meet them. You instantly gain a friend, or at least a familiar face in the hallways 4. If you are stuck in the commons and the bell for lunch rang over 5 minutes ago, simply wait until the last ten minutes of lunch to grab your food or you will be waiting FOREVER . (Or take a friend to wait with you, or make a friend in the lunch line. Either way) 5. Turn in things on time. A 1...

Lollipop Moments & Lord of the Rings

I believe in letting people know they have changed your life, and I've been handing out lollipops to help me do that #lollipopmoments One day I got asked to accompany one of the cutest boys in the whole school on a date. This day is also known as the day I skipped down the halls and could not stop smiling. That day led to another very significant day, the day I got to go to one of my favorite places with the cute boy, have an adventure while taking the stairs, and eat really good food. It was the first day I actually talked to the cute boy outside of our boring Physics class, and it was also the day I decided I wanted to be really good friends with this kid. But, this is not all. Here is the blog worthy part- I was FINALLY able to finish one of my new favorite movies series, The Lord of the Rings, last night. I never before had the desire to watch this series, I honestly thought it would be rather nerdy, or very weird. But I found out the truth- it is nerdy and  weird! And I...

General Conference Faves

In case ya need something good to do on a Sunday afternoon/night/before church/any day of the week, here are a few of my very favorite General Conference talks. :) Happy Reading. 1. "Trust in the Lord" -Richard G. Scott I read this at least once a week. I love the faith that is spoken of by Elder Scott, and the wonderful example he is of trusting in the Lord. 2. "On being genuine" -Dieter F. Uchtdorf I like genuine people, so I really liked this talk 3. "Mountains to Climb" -Henry B. Eyring This one is just lovely, and I know it to be true. 4. "Living Worthy of the Girl You Will Someday Marry" -Gordon B. Hinckley  This is probably my favorite talk from any priesthood session ever. And I believe every single guy/priesthood holder should listen to it. 5. "The Need for Greater Kindness" -Gordon B. Hinckley President Hinckley is one of the people I really want to meet when I get to Heaven. I love this talk, it a...

I believe in gratitude....{My favorite people part 1}

I am pretty sure I associate with angels.  Or at least, some beautiful souls that I was lucky enough to snag as my best friends. This year I have met some of the loveliest people, and I am very grateful for their help and support in everything. These people are the ones who carry me through the hard times, randomly show up at my door with treats, are there to help me with my homework, and never fail to put a smile on my face. I don't think they know how much I adore them. Recently I started doing some #kgrattitudepost's just for fun after reading a quote by the wonderful Dieter F. Uchtdorf, which said,   " Our loving Heavenly Father knows that choosing to develop a spirit of  gratitude  will bring us true joy and great  happiness... Gratitude  is a  catalyst  to all Christlike attributes!" So I decided to start being more grateful, especially for the people who have blessed my life. So here are a few (pulled off ins...

I adore the temple

A year. I am completely at awe over how much can change in a year. This year I have learned more than I ever thought was possible, met some of my very best friends, and went on some pretty wonderful adventures. This last year could have been very different, if I hadn't followed a simple request form my dear Stake President. In October, my stake was challenged to do Family history. I'm not going to lie, I scoffed when I heard this so called "challenge." I had always figured family history was for the people who had tons of time on their hands, plus I knew all my work had to have been finished already. So I fought the promptings and decided to put it off unless absolutely necessary. Boy, I really didn't understand what I was missing out on. Around December I decided to attend one of the Thursday (before I knew it as Thorsday) night family history classes at my stake center. I set up my account, and went to work. It was one of my first times actually looking at m...

Choosing Happiness

Throughout our life we are faced with many choices. These choices, whether big or small chart the course of our lives. We get to choose who our friends are, what homework we do [or choose not to do], where we go on adventures, and even how many scoops of ice cream we get to eat. While some choices come easily, others come quite hard- through lots of humble prayers, fasting, and even sacrificing. One of the best choices I have yet to make, was the choice to choose happiness.  Happiness is such a personal thing. It amazes me how many millions of things can make a single person happy. For some, it is easier to be happy in tough situations, while others may struggle while finding reasons to be happy. But no matter who you are, or what you may being going through, you have the chance to choose happiness. You are in charge of your own reactions, no matter what may be happening. To be happy is to see the silver lining, no matter the circumstance. Everyday we are faced with this cho...

Important Things....

I think it is really funny how quickly things change. We pass by hundreds of people every day; we go to work, to school and everywhere in between. We are constantly learning, which is one of the best parts of life. This last year I learned many important things, and I thought I would share a few. Here are 14 (yes, Troy Bolton's basketball number, and yes I did it pick it on purpose) important things that I have learned since my first day in High School, and good advice that I wish I had known sooner- 1. Be nice to everyone, regardless of how well you know them, or how they treat you 2. Smile in the hallways- the hallways are often crowded and big and scary and a smile makes it seem 85000x better 3. Ask for extra sprinkles 4. Don't be afraid to talk to people 5. Even the best people have their flaws- trust me, I promise they do 6. The temple is the happiest place on Earth- this one is just a fact 7. Bring people notes or treats if you/they are having a bad day, b...
